Molecular Luminescence: Communal Bonds

Saturday 14 and Sunday 22 September 2024

In Molecular Luminescence, participants will engage in a hands-on, collective workshop that creates a dynamic, communal creative workshop within the Art House gallery space at Acrylicize. Utilizing modular kits designed by studio Kai Lab, visitors will co-create an evolving structure that lights up the dark, evoking the intricate beauty of molecular bonds. Hosted by awe.curation, this workshop explores the synergy between light, motion, and collective creativity, resulting in a unique, interactive installation on each day of the workshop. The project emphasises the ritualistic aspects of communal building and shared artistic endeavour, fostering a sense of interconnectedness and purpose. Participants will partake in a meaningful process that not only brings light to the gallery but also symbolizes the power of coming together to create something greater than the sum of its parts.

The workshop experience highlights co-creation between the community and members of the nine studios participating in the exhibition. Taking place on the first Saturday and last Sunday of the London Design Festival, this event marks both the beginning and the end of the exhibition, framing the artistic journey. The workshops are an opportunity to speak with the artists in the exhibition space and get insight into their creative practice.

The entire event will be filmed in time-lapse, and participants will be invited to leave their email to receive the video and see how the creative output of the workshop grows and evolves through collective participation, over the course of the day.

Workshop co-designed by awe.curation and Kai Lab in collaboration with Irem Bugdayci and Naomi Lea. Workshop facilitation assisted by Albane Imbert and Monika Milewska.

awe.curation is one of the fastest-growing digital channels advocating for the expanding field of technology art and a friend of the exhibition. They are programming interactive Creative Workshops at the venue and promoting the exhibition and artists through their online platform.

awe.curation publish to a broad audience of artists, architects, designers, engineers, musicians, and galleries. They are building an online community of creative practitioners producing interactive art, starting conversations with a wide range of stakeholders and present fresh, relevant, and current artists outside of the traditional context. They bring art and technology back to the human body. The works they champion demand that we engage with the body on a deep level: they invoke our senses; they are playful and captivating; they interact with us. awe.curation explain that “as an emotion, awe is essential in our quest for technological progress; a necessity for any scientific experimentation. It opens us to the possibilities of the unknown.”

Saturday 14 and Sunday 22 September from 1-5pm each day

The workshop will take place on a rolling basis through the afternoon. Reserve your ticket on Eventbrite
